EN:<\/strong> Today\u2019s stage wasn\u2019t packed with major attractions. The weather was great, although gusty winds occasionally made themselves known. The sun was strong enough that sunscreen was absolutely essential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rano zrobi\u0142em jeszcze jeden test hotelowych \u015bniada\u0144 w Karlskronie. Tym razem por\u00f3wnanie pad\u0142o mi\u0119dzy Best Westernem a The Brewery. Best Western mia\u0142 wi\u0119kszy wyb\u00f3r, ale kosztowa\u0142 180 SEK. Co ciekawe, dzi\u015b nie chcieli mnie ju\u017c wpu\u015bci\u0107, t\u0142umacz\u0105c si\u0119 du\u017cym ob\u0142o\u017ceniem hotelu. Wczoraj jako\u015b nie by\u0142 to problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EN:<\/strong> In the morning I did one more hotel breakfast test in Karlskrona. This time I compared Best Western with The Brewery. Best Western offered a wider selection, but it cost 180 SEK. Interestingly, today they wouldn\u2019t let me in, saying the hotel was too busy. Somehow that wasn\u2019t an issue yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Brewery mia\u0142 skromniejszy bufet, ale i ni\u017csz\u0105 cen\u0119, 140 SEK. By\u0142o ciep\u0142e \u015bniadanie (jajecznica albo jajka na mi\u0119kko, dla mi\u0119so\u017cerc\u00f3w tak\u017ce boczek), do tego pieczywo, owsianka, owoce i ciasto. W tej cenie naprawd\u0119 trudno narzeka\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EN:<\/strong> The Brewery had a more modest buffet, but it was also cheaper at 140 SEK. There was a hot breakfast (scrambled eggs or soft-boiled eggs, plus bacon for meat lovers), as well as bread, porridge, fruit and cake. At that price, it\u2019s hard to complain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jecha\u0142o si\u0119 dobrze, chocia\u017c profil trasy by\u0142 do\u015b\u0107 m\u0119cz\u0105cy. Kr\u00f3tki podjazd, zjazd, kolejny podjazd i tak przez ca\u0142y dzie\u0144. Krajobraz te\u017c si\u0119 zmienia\u0142: troch\u0119 p\u00f3l, troch\u0119 las\u00f3w i sporo granitowych ska\u0142.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EN:<\/strong> Most of today\u2019s route followed either a busy road or quieter back roads. Riding was pleasant, although the constant short climbs and descents became tiring after a while. Kawiarnia wypieka\u0142a w\u0142asne bu\u0142ki cynamonowe, ale sprzedawa\u0142a je wy\u0142\u0105cznie w paczkach po sze\u015b\u0107 sztuk. Uzna\u0142em, \u017ce to jednak troch\u0119 za du\u017co, wi\u0119c sko\u0144czy\u0142o si\u0119 na kawie, kawa\u0142ku ciasta marchewkowego i placku jagodowym.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EN:<\/strong> Around halfway through the ride I stopped for some much-needed coffee and calories. The caf\u00e9 baked its own cinnamon buns, but they were only sold in packs of six. That felt a bit excessive, so I settled for a coffee, a slice of carrot cake and a blueberry pie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jest taka niepisana zasada, \u017ce rowerzy\u015bci z sakwami pozdrawiaj\u0105 si\u0119 na trasie. Przez jaki\u015b czas pr\u00f3bowa\u0142em ich liczy\u0107, ale zgubi\u0142em rachub\u0119 gdzie\u015b po dwudziestej osobie. Co ciekawe, ani razu nie spotka\u0142em kogo\u015b jad\u0105cego samotnie. Prawie wszyscy podr\u00f3\u017cowali w parach albo wi\u0119kszych grupach. Najbardziej zapad\u0142a mi w pami\u0119\u0107 ekipa, kt\u00f3rej pierwszy rower ci\u0105gn\u0105\u0142 przyczepk\u0119 z ca\u0142kiem poka\u017anym zestawem do grillowania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EN:<\/strong> Even though today\u2019s stage wasn\u2019t particularly long, I met an unusually large number of bikepackers. There\u2019s an unwritten tradition that cyclists travelling with panniers greet each other on the road. I tried counting them at first, but lost track somewhere after twenty. Interestingly, I didn\u2019t meet a single solo traveller. Almost everyone was riding in pairs or larger groups. The most memorable group had a trailer attached to the lead bike carrying what looked like a full barbecue setup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Karlshamn, mimo swojej bogatej historii, jest niewielkim miasteczkiem. Powsta\u0142o w XVII wieku, kiedy po przej\u0119ciu tych teren\u00f3w od Danii Szwedzi za\u0142o\u017cyli tu port i nazwali go na cze\u015b\u0107 kr\u00f3la Karola X Gustawa. Przez lata miasto by\u0142o wa\u017cnym portem handlowym i wojskowym, a dzi\u015b jego stare centrum mo\u017cna obej\u015b\u0107 spokojnym spacerem w nieca\u0142\u0105 godzin\u0119.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EN:<\/strong> Despite its rich history, Karlshamn is a small town. It was founded in the 17th century after Sweden took control of the area from Denmark. The Swedes established a new port here and named it after King Charles X Gustav. For many years it served as an important commercial and naval port, while today its historic centre can easily be explored in less than an hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EN:<\/strong> I also wanted to take a ferry to one of the nearby islands, where an old fortress guards the entrance to the harbour. Unfortunately, I discovered that the local ferries don\u2019t carry bicycles. That\u2019s a shame, because several of the islands looked well worth exploring if I had more time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m sitting perfectly still, listening to the sound of the waves, when I suddenly hear what sounds like panting. I think, \u201cProbably a dog,\u201d and keep sitting there. Then I see two small, brown, furry animals running across the rocks. They must have mistaken my flip-flop for just another rock, because one of them jumped right onto it and used it to spring forward. The other ran past me on a different route. They didn\u2019t pay any attention to me at all.
